Is it normal to hate people in my age group? (teenagers)

I hate how people my age act. They're so immature and annoying as hell. They're constantly on their phones, gossiping, or making fun of others. They think they're better than everyone else. I'm not saying this about all teenagers, but it's just my opinion. I feel so much more mature compared to all of them and hate having to be friends with them. Am I just overreacting?

    All of my closer friends are 20 & up because most teenagers do act as if they are brainless, bobble-heads. It makes us decent ones look bad as a result. Older people tend to be surprised when any of us show signs of actual intelligence (-_-). What's more infuriating is when i meet a new person and they tell me "there's no way I'm actually a teen" because apparently everyone 18 & under is incapable of having a vocabulary that includes words made of more than five letters. I too can't wait until i can claim the big 2-oh.

    First off there is no relief in getting older, at least I havent found it yet, (31, almost 32).

    That being said being a teenager can suck as well, every age has its ups and downs, at least as a teenager you dont have to worry about waking up with cancer or having to wear diapers since you cant control your bodily functions, like someone who is 80+ yrs old.

    Try to get along as best you can, most of life is temporary anyway, and nothing is an temporary as whatever happens in High School, esp relationships and friendships.

    I know how you feel. I don't want to sound like a snob but there are only a handful of people my age I know that are not immature. It seems like everyone else my age is self-obsessed, bitchy and attention seeking. I can't wait to get out of this place.

    I know how you feel. That's probably the only reason I'm looking forward to my 20th birthday next year (I'm still 18), I won't be categorized as a "teen" anymore. Most of them give us all a bad name.

    I understand.
    But you will also miss them when you all get older, and teenagers DON'T want to play with the grumpy adult.
    Try to get along with your peers, for YOUR sake.

    I hear ya, a lot of my friends are older than i am, and tend to get along better with people in their 30s. I know alot more about stuff from their time than fr4om my own. Of course, im the guy with the pink floyd tee and a dodge hat, so yeah, im a little "older" than i really am (19).
