Is it normal to hate pale people?!

So, I'm rather pale. And by "rather pale" I mean I'm paler than all shades of even the lightest make-up and people can hate on me for it. I'm not sure why! Why is being pale so offensive to people? My friends and family tell me that it's pretty, like I'm a porcelain doll or whatever, but everyone else just looks at me like I'm an abomination. If you do hate pale people for whatever reason, can you leave a comment and tell me why? And also tell me what you think when you see a really pale person in general? Sometimes I feel like I'm so unique and beautiful because of it, and then sometimes I just feel pasty and sickly.

When I see pale people, I automatically think of Tim Burton movies. And since I'm an avid fan of those, that's a compliment. I love it when I get pale in the winter and the dark circles under my eyes are more noticeable because then I remind myself of Edward Scissorhands.

I think pale is beautiful. but unfortunately, most people don't like something that is outside of the norm.

My skin is freakishly white as well. Random strangers will approach me and comment on it. "You are SOOOO white!" No shit? Like i never noticed? A lot of the time i just avoid the whole mess and use self tanner.

It looks pretty ^^. Anyway to answer your question. People don't like what is unusual, pale people are a minority so it just give them a reason to pick on you.
Like when people hate on a fat girl/ skinny girl/redhead/ugly person...it target the negative comments even if there is nothing wrong with it.
I don't get myself why they do this.

Throughout almost ALL cultures and races lighter skinned was always viewed as more beautiful, the whiter the better. Arabs, Japanese, native Americans/mestizos, Indians, even many black tribes. I think "pale" is beautiful and I wouldn't ever trade my pale beauty for anyone else.

Be proud of your whiteness and make more beautiful "pale" children

I never said they hate me. I said they hate on me for being pale, as in they tease me for it and view it as a bad thing. But thanks for the demeaning comment.

To be quite honest, I think people with fake tan are absolutly gross. They look dirty and disgusting. People who are tan naturally are pretty I think. I think all natural skin colors are beautiful, it's just the fake ones that are terrible. Me myself am white like a corpse, and I love it. c: In the summer I use ALLOT of suns cream to stay this way.

I'm paler then my peers (every1 is ok with my skin) and if guests come home they always ask me if I'm ok cuz I look too pale, but the thing is that I'm ok with being different, so don't get sad cuz other pick on you cuz of your skin! It's just cuz you are more special!

It's not normal for people to be hating on you for being paler skinned. It probably looks very pretty on you. I hate it when naturally pale skinned people go tan. It looks so fake, and I always want to go scream at them and tell them they looked much better before.

I'm naturally quite pale as well. When I was a teen there were times when people actually asked me if I was feeling unwell when I wasn't... Then I discovered tinted moisturiser, which I use to this day to even out my skin tone, but I'm not into sun beds or artificial tanners or anything like that. Of course in summer I enjoy getting a slight tan, but don't feel the need to alter my skin tone by various degrees to fit someone else's ideal. I don't see anything wrong with paleness and find the idea that everyone aspires to the sun-kissed look very patronising. It implies a kind of failure on our part.
Encouragingly, there seems to have been a trend towards paleness in the last decade or so. I think Nicole Kidman may have been one of the first high-profile pale beauties. As an Australian she was probably more aware of the potential damages of too much sun than others at the time. Now there are even more stars espousing the naturally pale look, e.g. Amanda Seyfried, Anne Hathaway, Dakota Fanning. If it's good enough for Hollywood, it should be good enough for everyone else. :)
