Is it normal to hate it when people say this...
Not every song can be the best song ever. There are thousands upon thousands of timeless songs but only one can be the best out of all of them - if all songs could be called the best ever, the phrase "best ever" would be meaningless.
And yet so many people say "this is the best song ever" even if they have absolutely no proof whatsoever to support their view that the particular song they are calling "the best ever" actually IS the best ever.
I mean sure, many songs sound good, but a song is only the best ever if it is universally enjoyed, is known all over the world, is still played today endlessly on the radio and on TV, etc.
Personally, if I had to pick a song to be the REAL best ever, it would be either Imagine by John Lennon, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen or Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. These three songs can all logically be called the best ever due to their enormous impact on music.
But calling a song like "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd or, god forbid, "Enter Sandman" by stupid Metallica, the "best ever" just doesn't make sense. Every great song under the sun has been called this by ignorant YouTube users.
The reason why these people are ignorant is because they are confusing the word "best" with "favourite". Just because it is their favourite song doesn't automatically make that song the best. So when I said that those three songs can be called the best ever, that did not mean that they are my favourites. They're just the best in factual terms, not opinionated terms.
So is it normal to get annoyed about this? I really cringe with frustration when people blurt it out and get about 300 hundred thumbs up for it on YouTube. I've seen people say it for the stupidest of songs as well.
