Is it normal to hate it when people say all christians are hypocrites?

I always read comments or stories about how much people hate Christians but not ones about Christians hating atheists. I don't support gay marriage but I don't say I hate people who do. I don't support the big bang but I don't hate people who do. If we can keep our peace why can't others? I love everyone and I'm not just saying that, but understand it gets on my nerves.

who cares. if you want to believe in god and the devil then that is your choice. if you want to believe in science, then that is your choice too.

I'm a christian too. People can call you what they want. Just look the other way. It's not worth the argument. :)

You shouldn't let what people think bother you, be proud to who you are and stuff what everyone else thinks!

Oh and before someone jumps on and declares that their is no absolute truth, you are wrong. To say that it is true that there is no truth is a self defeating statement.

I think there is hypocrisy in any group (religious, ethnic, national) just look the other way - turn the other cheek, so to speak - and don't take it personally and get into a heated argument that won't change their minds anyway. We have been getting bad publicity lately from that westboro(sp?) baptist church. It's the same thing as the fact that all Muslims are not necessarily terrorists - in fact it is a few radicals that call themselves Muslims which give the entire religion a bad stereotype.

You may not hate people who don't believe the same as you but it still sounds like you are judging them.

Try not to take it so personally. Many people are just snarky and trying to puff themselves up like a fighting bird. This isn't the place for balanced discourse regarding Christianity. Nor is it a place for proselytizing.

You may not be inciting violence for your beliefs but that doesn't mean others who share your values haven't. Sometimes it is hard to separate yourself from the negative stereotype. You may not agree with the Westboro Baptists but they wouldn't understand a Jesus-like action even if it bit them on their ass.

You're shoving your belief on everyone by saying she's wrong for shoving beliefs so how can you escape the indictment of hypocrisy when you yourself are doing the same thing?

Inevitably all of us will shove our beliefs on others even if that belief is complete benign passiveness. So there is no shame in casting down certain ideas and speaking out against them.

Although if you do speak out against an idea have a REASON. Don't be one of those Beiber Fever inflicted tweens who says, "lulz! Christianity is teeh bad"

    ^ cleosdoc, excellent point.

I think there are few to non religious group that are not hypocrites. They all think they are right and non are wiling to be open and accepting.

The main points of any religion is do good and don't harm, become a good person and care! We all know what that is and how to do it... so why do we care about who's words to follow or what book to follow. they message remains the same

    • What is good? It's had countless definitions to billions throughout the world's history.

Think of a word on a wall being perceived by half-blind men. All of them are going to PERCEIVE the world differently yet their skewed perceptions doesn't change the nature of the word itself does it? No, it retains it's meaning no matter what.

So it is with "Good" or Truth. Man can only haphazardly perceive Truth through the dirty lens of his own flawed mind. He will never be able to discern it.

So this idea that we can all agree on truth is lunacy. We never have and possibly never will.

I'm non-religious, and I sort of cringe whenever people bring Christianity into a debate which isn't directly religious. I've had a lot of bad experiences with Christianity, such as going to a Catholic primary school that happened to be shit (I think that one was a bad co-incidence), having a friend who was lured into a toxic church and psychologically hurt from the experience, being a non-religious individual living in the city with the most churches in my country, and having a mother who supports all her children's life choices until she gets drunk and starts going on about how I'm "already a Christian" (because Christian=good in her mind) and I'll "find God eventually".

But you know what? I will not claim that every Christian is bad. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't wary of people when they state that they're Christian, but I won't pass judgement on a person just because they're in a group with bad people in it. There are a lot of Christians. They won't all be good people. Likewise, a large portion of the city I live in are Christians. When someone wrongs me, there's a good chance they will also happen to be Christian.

I will not support someone who claims that every Christian is the same in any respect. Even if I agree with them in every other way, I don't want to be seen supporting that kind of mindless bigotry. Besides, you should always do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. ;)

I hate it when people stereotype like that full stop. Even if they are right, even if I agree, it is still wrong to behave like that. I am an atheist, and I hate it when people automatically make assumptions, without even knowing the person. They may have perfectly good reasons for acting like they do, or believing what they believe. Alternatively, they may not. You need to know the specific reasons before you make a judgement, and even then it is better to leave peoples beliefs to themselves.

  • I'm not forcing you to believe in God I don't see where I was shoving my beliefs down anyones throat. It's my opinion and I have a right to share just as much as you. By the way this has nothing to do with the subject but please learn how to use grammar.

You have every right to say how you feel. But that does not prevent others from having those same rights. Freedom of speech, yes, but not freedom from the reactions of what was said.

  • I hear that sometimes but it's generally coming from the ribble rabble; the unwashed masses who's sole danger is reproducing.

Christianity is a fuckin Neanderthal religion. Regular people won't send someone to hell to suffer for am eternity unless they have mental issues but you bet your ass that god will! And he supposedly "loves" you more than anyone else. I'm ashamed that people still believe in this shit!

There is a book called I don't have enough faith to be an atheist, it is quite an interesting read, each chapter was reviewed by a professor who specialized in that field, so it's legit.

You sound more like a hippy than a Christian, maybe look into pagenism?

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • The paganism idea is pretty good, I once wanted to join the Hare Krishnas but my mom wouldn't let me.
