I have a feeling that you have the same given name as someone in your teacher's past. This person is someone that your teacher does not want to be consistently reminded of. I feel that you should ask your teacher why she singles you out in this way. If my original supposition is true, perhaps you and your teacher can come to a mutually agreeable solution. ( eg. Pupil 13)
This doesn't bother me one bit. I was in the Navy so... that's pretty much standard practice.
I hate it too!! There is a reason why we have this thing called a forst name.(:
I was called by last name in school because it was common name. Funny enough - alot of the student last names started with "van" in my class eg. van groenveld, van de rijk, etc.
An old teacher of mine used to address both me and my sister by our surname. I asked him why, and he said that he would always get our first names confused, so using our surname was easier. I actually liked that he did that, because there was another teacher at school who would always get mine and my sister's first names mixed up and it annoyed me every time.
Some people have really terrible first names and really great last names. I could see why it would annoy someone to be singled out like that but I personally like it.
It's normal. In my case, I sometimes would prefer if people just called me by my last name or nickname as opposed to my first.
It's because its a catchy last name. I would get the same thing in high school. Some names just catch peoples attention as a way to remember you. They deal with a lot of kids, its their way to remember you. Don't over think it lol
