Is it normal to hate group work?

One of my assessments this semester due this week is a 45 minute group presentation. Three of us have done our part and now we're waiting on the fourth group member to do hers. She hasn't shown up to any of our meetups and hasn't contacted any of us by phone or email, so we have no idea if she's even done anything. I guess the three of us who have finished our work will have to do the rest of it.

The thing that gets me is that every single time a group work assessment is set, there is ALWAYS that one person who slacks off and is difficult to contact, then expects to receive the marks the rest of us who actually did work got.

So, is it normal for me to hate group work for this reason?

i hate those people in groups that happily fuck off until the end, then try to take credit for something they had no part in.
in the end i just used to credit them with all the shitty bits of the group project and leave them with the shitty mark :)

I am probably that person you are speaking of who is terrible with group work. I just never really was able to do well working with groups unless I have a decent amount of time to let things sink in. However, I could do the work by myself pretty well, or perhaps with just one other. Maybe even 2 but yeah. It gets easier with practice. :-)

Yes, comopletely normal! I hate group work because of that fact too. It's always frustrating when someone doesn't pull their weight!

I was in a similar situation in my graduation project, I was the group leader, and the other two did nothing, but I knew how to make use of them, I made one of them collect all the necessary data(but I had to tell him exactly what to do, it's like working with a robot), the other was a hopeless case, so I made him cook for us.
    A+ :D

Can you just drop her from your group? Speak with your teacher/lecturer about it.

Group work can be a pain in the ass. They're so many different opinions that you don't know what to expect. All the ones I remember doing were art related. Some of them were fine and everyone's thoughts mixed well together but others didn't mix well and there was allot of negativity involved.
