Is it normal to hate family reunions?

I feel that family reunions force families to pretend they want to see each other even though they'd rather be doing something else.
I don't like family reunions myself :p My family is huge and honestly when I go to those things it's just like a group of strangers to me. And the older people there seem to feel the need to introduce me to all of my cousins like 1.) i can remember their names and 2.) we're really going to keep in contact after this reunion is over.
I don't mind small family functions which would include my first cousins, and aunts (because we all live in California together) but going fair away in the south where I don't know a single name but they all seem to know mine? You can count me out :/
I love them but don't like them!
I swore years ago that I wasn't going to waste another day of my life, doing anything I didn't want to do - and that vow was made at a family reunion. Never again! Too boring! I'd rather be in the pub.
I'm with you buddy. Most of the fam is close by, some are 3000 miles away. I don't mind too much when its the distant people, but I see the other ones pretty often. No need to party about it
