Is it normal to hate customers

I hate customers. They are always rude and think they can treat the employees like crap. They bother me to no end. Always calling with their stupid tiny complaints. Everytime I see them walk in I just wanna tell them we have gone out of business. To go away. Is it wrong to hate them like this? I'm never rude to them but I feel I'm gonna snap, and soon!

Your job is to provide excellent customer service while doing your job in a timely manner. Unless you are being hindered from doing your job properly:don't complain. You get paid just the same. If they want to be rude or stupid, kill them with kindness. They want to bother you, or they don't know so that's why they are asking you. Just roll with the punches, and don't forget to smile.

Some customers are really frustrating, I tend to kill them with kindness (even if sometimes it's noticeably sarcastic kindness). You just have to keep in mind that you are a customer to someone too so even though it sounds corny -treat them how you would like to be treated.

  • I get what you mean. If I ever had trouble outside of work, I never let it show in my face or attitude and was always courteous towards customers. Yet, there was always at least one trying to ruin my shift. I understand that maybe they were in a rush or just having a bad day, but they didn't need to be so goddam rude!

  • You might want to consider changing job before this happens, or you might be forced to look for another job.

But I do know what you're talking about. I had a part time job in a pharmacy and costumers were always asking me questions. Like how the fuck should I know, I worked 3 days a week there, I'm no pharmacist, I don't know what the hell ginseng fucking does. Ask the pharmacist, she's doing shit all and on facebook behind her desk. Another time, some old man was hitting on me and was asking my name and he was looking for some viagra, I just wanted to punch him out there.

I think you're normal and I shared those feelings too.
