Is it normal to hate cell phones?

Almost everyone has one, yes, a cell phone, Texting while driving, and maybe talking. I dont like cell phones, i type fast enough and my fingers ache from typing, so, if I have a cell phone, i would become an addict. I hate cell phones becuase they rilly distract people, and make huge bills, I also dislike video games as well. So many teens are losing their true gifts to video games. They will never find their talent that way. A monkey could play a video game...

I agree. Sometimes I feel like a slave to my cel phone. And love it at the same time. It has come in handy quite a few times though. I once got a blown out tire on the highway. Called a towing service. Or one time I came home and before I got into the house I noticed that someone had entered my house. Called police. So, I think it's a must have.

id like one just for safety purposes. what if your stranded somewhere and need to call a cab? or someone needs to get a hold of you? I dont have a cell atm and it freaks me out.. espesh when i work late, im always afraid ill get mugged or stabbed or something and cant call the police. I agree with you, but the above is something to consider (not trying to scare you)

I've had a cellphone at almost all times since I was 15, and I'm only 22. But I agree. They're convenient and can help save time. But I make it a practice to spend one month every year without any phone, and it is by far the most relaxing and refreshing month. As for gaming, I think it has some positives, such as creative thinking and maybe finger dexterity, but overall I agree. My little bro plays World of Warcraft constantly, to the point that I don't think he's gone out with friends other than to play more WoW in the last two years. It's his choice I guess, but it's sad for me to remember all the great times I had in high-school that he doesn't even know he could be missing.

  • I think you have all this electronic crap in perspective and agree with you. OK for what it is, but really, is it that much? No. I definitely agree.

I'm not a big fan of cell phones either. My friends tease me and call me old fashioned because I still send letters and thank you cards (its nice teasing though, they say they feel special when I send things like that). Your aversion to cell phones and video games are not without a basis. I talk a couple psychologist professors at school a lot, one a child psychologist and one a clinical. They talk a lot about the recent research being done with the loss of personal connection of today and future generations. One is co writing a book about how video games/computer RPG are two components in the inhibitation of today%%u2019s youth pertaining to interview skills, personas, empathy and the dulling of the frontal lobe neuro stimulators. Anyway, like I've said they're plenty of people who understand your points. I'm a very laid back person so when I meet someone that is a big video gamer or is cell phone obsessive, I just let it go. It's their choice and even though I don't play video games at all and will not let my own children until they are old enough to buy one on their own and can keep up their grades, I continue to let it go. I read, travel, paint, write, and study history and my Sex and the City girls and gamer friends think I'm brilliant (I'm not really) because they find that stuff boring compared to playing Mass Effect, Blood Bowl or watching Sarah Jessica all night. Besides it's kind of nice for everyone to be different, that way you can hang out all the time and still have unique stuff to talk about! :)

Talent can be find in video game... have you ever heard of E3 where so many post-teenagers professional gamer gather? It's their lifestyle, so that's just bias to think video game is design for young people only.

As for cellphone... well, can you imaging without it? Maybe for you, but definitely not for me, before I get my first one I was very lonely, everyone esle move on too damn fast without me. So I keep on ahold of them for hangout or party, it's hard for me to not mention that I'm deaf so hate cellphone for texting is irrelevant to me.
