Is it normal to hate being touched by immediate family members only

I love to be touched by people, I'm just a physical person I guess; however, I hate it when anyone in my immediate family touches me. If my mother, father, brother, or sister lays a hand on me, I get really, really irritated and angry about it. My sister and brother I can handle touches from better than I can with my mom and my dad. And like I said, I love it when friends or teachers touch me, just not my family. Is this normal?

I can't handle when my mom touches me!!! One time I flinched and she got really put off. Anyway it's not just typical teen behavior I'm sure there are underlying issues with your family.

I don't know if it's officially normal, but I'm the same. I can handle it with my sister, struggle through with my dad, but when my mother touches me I get really creepy out and have to surreptitiously "wipe off" wherever she touched.

And I'm 25. Granted, we don't have the best relationship, but I don't recall any physical violence.

  • Same here, the only person I don't like to touch me is my dad.

Typical teen behavior. Don't stress...as you mature these feelings will pass.

Yeah, but I'm not a teenager. I'm a college student in my twenties.
