Is it normal to hate a gap in your teeth?

My teeth are perfectly straight apart from a small gap in the front two. Apparently the gap is barely noticable, even my own mom never noticed it until I pointed it out to her. Every photo I have it's the first thing I notice, I am unbelievably paranoid about it and I've considered having it filled in but whenever I've talked about it to friends they have said it really suits me, it's characteristic and they couldn't imagine me without it. I have pretty big lips so I think it's something you can't really miss. I've even been told by partners that they love my teeth.
Are gaps, maybe not normal, but actually attractive or do I need to book an appointment with the dentist?

We are our own worst critic

  • I think they're special (in a good way), like dimples, widow's peaks, and freckles; the people who have them are self-conscious about it, but everyone else loves it (except for a few idiots maybe).

It's what makes you. If you want to be like everyone else, go to the dentist. I say keep it. It's your mark, your signature.

I say if there is something you don't like about yourself and you have the means to change it, what is the harm? I think it's possible to close the gap without having braces (crowns or veneers) but then you are damaging the tooth for a cosmetic reason, so just consult your dentist and be aware of the risks. Having said all that, I think gaps are gorgeous and I'm envious of everyone who has one!

Gapped teeth is actually a rather popular look, several haute models have undergone dental surgury to have their teeth gapped (extreme, but interesting).
Be proud of your teeth, they don't look bad. :)

I have a small gap too. Somehow it took me about 16 years to ever realize that I have one but have been ok with it ever since. Its kinda funny though because it is similar to your case because no one else ever notices it. Anyways, I think its normal to be bothered by things like that but you should learn to accept yourself. But, if you think that you can't live happily with your gap, then you could just see a dentist. I don't think its too big of a deal though.

I have a gap between my front teeth and I'm proud of it! You should be proud of yours too. It's what gives us a distinctive, yet not unpleasant smile.

You can't have it filled. If you want it gone, you have to get braces.
