Is it normal to grow up in a constant state of fear?

I've realised that my parents decided for whatever reason that it would be best for me to fear everything girls, strangers, getting bad grades, not giving them money, etc.. Is it normal for parents to teach their kids to fear the world?

My family was liked this too. Now, I'm going to see a therapist, partially to address my large amounts of phobias. :/

    They sound paranoid.

That's how my parents were too. Which is a horrible way to parent your child. Over protecting your kids does way more harm than good in the long run.

That's what the News taught your parents to do.
