Is it normal to go temporarily blind?

You know how if you get up too fast you get all dizzy & can't see for a little while?
Well that happens to me but I can't see for like over a minute and sometimes I'll even just be walking an it'll happen suddenly.
The blindness seems to last even longer each time and I'm starting to get worried.
My mum won't take me to see a doctor because she blames it on me being a vegetarian but yeah..
Is it normal?

No this is not normal. It is normal to have this sensation after sitting for prolonged periods and standing too quickly, but to have your vision fade while doing normal activities is something else altogether.

It could be spikes in blood pressure, or something far more serious like on coming blindness totally. Some people experience this before they lose their eyesight.

If you are older you really need to get this checked immediately. Even if you are not older you still need to have this checked. Don't freak out or anything there are a lot of things that could be causing this, but it is serious none the less.

    Cheers,

I have this, this is called vesovagel syncope. That blindness is actually the start of you fainting! Sit down quickly, I tried to stand up for a while, while blinded, and ended up out for 5 minutes. Go see a doctor, fainting seems nonchalant but can actually be signs of a more serious condition.

This has always happened to me, mostly from anxiety/stress. Once when I was a kid it happened but I completely blacked out (Usually everything becomes progressively blurrier never completely dark) and fell, hit my head on the wall. It was scary!

Your mom could be right if it's due to weakness and being low in iron. Pull down your lower eyelid and make sure it is blood red. If so, you are ok for iron, if pale pink or white you are low in iron and this will make you feel weak and often dizzy.

You may also have an ear infection that could give you vertigo and that would affect your vision too.

I'd see the doctor - I'm sure it's something trivial.

Sorry to say this mate, your mum is a fucking idiot, I've been off meat for my entire life and I've never had this. Doctor. Go. Now.

had an injection from the doctor once, I was warned to sit down for a while but as usual...

I was on the street when the dots started appearing, then that feeling started, soon things were so dark I was just reaching out to people and then .! I was 100% blind. I started having the panic attack of my life!!! People were telling me to relax and I was just not hearing that! how could I?!

but I sat down eventually, and I could see little white dots and after a while after that I had my eyesight back!

    fun times. not.

Actually this is due to having a low blood pressure, do you drink a lot of caffiene?
