Is it normal to go online to talk to people to get away from parents?

I go online mostly just to talk to people (one of the reasons I signed up on IIN, actually). My parents are always either fighting or having sex (the walls are pretty thin here), and I don't know anyone who lives anywhere near me and theres nothing to do nearby anyway so if I'm not being yelled at or whatever else for not grabbing the mail or for coming home too late from school (was an hour late last week because I missed a bus and had to take public trans, and my mom smacked me so hard my lip bled) or whatever other stupid mistake they invent, I'm sitting at my computer either playing an online game or talking to people on yahoo or other sites (and now is it normal I guess lol). I hang around chatrooms sometimes but mostly I like to chat on forum sites. I don't do anything really bad of course, if people start getting pervy I just hit ignore. I download movies sometimes and listen to last.fm a lot, but really 99% of my free time is spent online talking to people in other places.

But anyway since this is a mostly anonymous site i thought I would post this and see if you guys thinks im normal or weird. So is it normal for me to be like this?

    Yes, it's normal to listen to you parents having sex. No, it's not normal for your mom to hit you! That's WRONG!!! Everything else you do is what a normal girl does.

    Hey man nothings wrong with online socializing... I know parents can suck but parents are just people and shity parents are just shity people... but hey bro if u ever wanna get out the house and meet some people try getting a job at like subway or something around the house a, best buy is a good place for seasonal work this time a year. It's a good way to meet some people and have some money in your pocket to go out and do cool shit with, plus it'll keep u busy and away from your parents if they are treating you like shit... if your not old enough to work then go out and offer to mow lawns, go up to the mall get u some nice clothes and talk to some lady's bro... your young man take advantage... just don't sweat the small shit and crave your own path...

    yes i do that too its normal

    i dont really have a good relationship with parents because of the past i dont like to talk about.

    and i dont talk to my brother too.

    so i go online and talk online to friends but mostly random people.

    I really cant talk to my parents like my neighbour does to his.

    the bad phase of my life is over but im still fixing myself and im becoming a better person :)
