Is it normal to get tired of the us winning

I am from the United States and I am very proud of my country and what we accomplish. However, I have been seeing in each olympics, we tend to pull the lead on the medal count and I become sadden by those countries in which it is unfair to compete against.

Is it wrong to just want to see my own country get its butt kicked at something just once? Sure, I am stoked about the bobsled team today and the hockey game tomorrow but that is more to the US not winning those events in a long time than it is to see my country win...yet again.

Is it wrong to look outside of your country during the Olympics.

Glad someone from across the border was glad to see the U.S. lose at both gold medal hockey finals.

Oh and, you may have had the highest total medal count but we had the highest gold count...

    • Yeah, I'm from Oregon though...The state that doesn't matter.

Oregon is right between the cool parts of Washington or the entertaining areas to the south like Las Vegas. Oregon itself offers little to nothing.

Oh, go bobsledders though, I think one was from Oregon.

aw thats fine. i always want to see someone superior beaten by something lower. there's a term in japanese called "gekokujyou" and that's exactly what it means - the lower status overcoming the higher status.
it's been good to see the US win olympics here and there and everything...but they've been losing a bit in the recent olympics! to china and to canada. NOW there's competition :) and incentives to improve :)

I feel the same way, and have found myself rooting for other countries for the last few days...

Mom: Canada beat us in hockey...
    Me: Oh yay!!
Mom: You weren't cheering for your own country?

I think what really turns me off (this was my father's conclusion as well) is how American-centric the media is.

    • Damn right, except for Quebec though. It is okay to speak two languages, even forced to learn them both to be bilingual country but those assholes don't want to learn English. So piss on Quebec.

      Go Canada.
