Is it normal to get teased for being a ginger?

I always get teased so much for having really white skin, freckles, and red hair. Everyone always calls me " stupid ginger" and what not. They even have a "National Kick A Ginger Day", and it's really stupid! I go to a really big school, and there aren't many gingers around here, so I'm always the main target. I even get kicked by random people off the street. It's really annoying, but I don't know if it's just me, or do all gingers get teased? Is that normal?

    It isn't normal.
    This craze was started when preteens and some(not very mature teens) Tooned in to watch south park,the episode where cartman makes fun of "gingers" than becomes one.

    It is very stupid to take any vaules or life lessons from an adult COMDEY cartoon.
    You laugh you move on.
    It's just a joke.

    Even the creators of south park have said people should not take the show so serously to watch it and apply it to their lifes.
    I mean what kind of idoit does that?

    The people teasing you are very stupid you should feel bad for them.

      In the UK it's been around for far longer than South Park. People with red hair have been on the receiving end of bullying, verbal and physical, for 100s of years.

      Lots of people get teased for something, but the problem is when it becomes socially acceptable to tease someone. In the UK programs like South Park, tabloid newspapers (The Sun, The Daily Mail), various websites have all contributed to the notion that taking the piss out of the redhead minority of people is OK, but it's already part of our culture, just as it's apparently socially acceptable to take the mick out of fat people. I would like to point out the majority of bullying towards redheads is against boys, not girls; girls with red hair are positively portrayed in media, women with red hair are stereotyped as sexual fantasies.

      My brother has red hair and was bullied plenty as a kid. Strangers would call out insults across the street, he got spat on by some random kids because of his hair, punched in the face etc. And that was all outside school. If he was black, he wouldn't have any of these problems because of conscious social conditioning, we're all instilled with the idea that racism is bad, certain words are bad etc. Teachers would care if he was black. It's a double standard. My brother's teachers didn't care, in fact some of them took the piss out of him because of his hair too. Cunts.

      In 2009 a kid committed suicide because of bullying about his red hair. It can seriously be THAT bad, that damaging.

        This is sooooooooooooooooo completely true! I went to the UK once, and I got insulted by random people in the street and everything. It was the worst week of my life. And it's true what you say about boys, my brother has always had it worse than me because of his hair, but people tease me as well, and I'm a girl. In school he would always get beat up, and bullies always targeted him. When he got on the bus people would throw textbooks at him and spit wads. It was so terrible. And yeah, it's true what you say about it being socially acceptable. People don't think there's anything wrong with harassing people just because of their hair. Some of my teachers would even make fun of me in school. Elementary, middle, and high school as well. And the teachers would just laugh when other students would make jokes about my hair. Hopefully this will all end someday.

    I'm so sorry that you have to go through that! I personally think people like you are beautiful!:) I have a friend like you and Shes truly beautiful. Don't pay any attention to those idiot people that tease you, you are beautiful and different, so don't let them bring you down! :)

    Shame, even different looking white people get picked on by white people... I hope you find a ginger mate and have more ginger kids with freckles because, you just cant get that color hair better naturally. BTW, your pubices'... What color are they (seriously a fair question i've heard of white blondes with different drapes before) (he was male)

    To be honest, it is normal. But that doesn't mean I think it should happen. I fin many gingers attractive and for me I don't think it matters. But there will be people who tease you. The idiots.

    I love Gingers to death <3. Ive dated three gingers. All three had pale skin, two were light ginger and one was bright red and had freckles. Three of my best friends are Ginger. Embrace it. A few shitheads out there wont like you for it, but there are plenty of people like me that will love you even more for your gingerness. And to all the haters : Its a god damn hair color! Get the hell over it!

    Uhh, the teasing isn't right though, quite terrible, actually.
    It's basically racism and it isn't right.
    Trust me though, when you get older and grow into yourself, the fact that you're a redhead will be a good thing ;}

    I am sorry to hear you are being teased. I have red hair too but I don´t have freckles. Still, I dye my hair blonde because I dont like the attention of being a redhead (the good attention and the bad one).

    I use to hate red heads after one stole my boyfriend >:( (who is now my ex). I even told this one girl with red hair that I didnt like her straight to her face!
    But for my college orientation my OL was a read head and she was so nice and pretty! And she just changed my whole perspective on people with red hair. And its wrong to say you hate a whole group of people because of this or that :/

    BTW i had orange hair befor it was dyed and got kicked acouple times even by some friends on that day,everyone who kicked me i punched them in the face.
    lol it might seem abit much but its like going up and attacking someone for no reason.

    Haahahaha DAYWALKER! Jk, I make a lot of ginger jokes to those one redhead at my school but it's because he's a real ass. I'm surprised no one has gone to you and put their hands around the "camp fire" ( your hair) we do that al other time to that one asshole
