Is it normal to get so far into a daydream you forget where you are?

Sometimes, when I'm daydreaming, I get really into it to the point that I almost start physically "seeing" the daydream. This happens particularly with sexually arousing daydreams. For example, I'll start fantasizing about a love interest and I'll literally start visualizing it so much that I start to tune out all sights, sounds, etc. around me. All I start to see is the daydream, and it seems real to me.

It happens often to me, so I want to say it's normal.
but my psychology teacher noticed and said I may need to get that checked out...

I once almost missed a bus stop because of that. Luckily I noticed in the last moment.

  • That does happen to me sometimes, but I don't completly block everything out. I can still here the conversation around me, but I am not aware that it's happening. And that only happens when Im thinking about love ( not sexually ).
