Is it normal to get really sick and puke after a cigar?

So today I smoked this big cigar (CAO Brazilian Box Press). Normally I just smoke cigarettes. I've been smoking cigarettes since I was 14 and they never made me feel sick. This is the second cigar I've ever had. After smoking it for about half hour or so, I started feeling extremely nauseous and dizzy, like I was going to pass out. And no I was not inhaling the cigar.
So then after I left the club, I was driving and I had to pull over and stop because I felt like I was going to seriously pass out. So I tried walking around and waiting for the symptoms to ease, but then I had to stop and sit since I was so dizzy. Instead of passing out like I was expecting, I actually threw up all over the sidewalk. What's weird is immediately after I threw up, I suddenly felt completely better.
The dude at the club said something about having an empty stomach isn't good when having a cigar. The only thing in my stomach was a monster energy drink (which is what I threw up). Could that have been the reason for me getting sick/throwing up or something else?

The first time I smoked a cigar, I actually did inhale it. It felt like someone had a cheese grater on the inside of my lungs. And I felt sick and ill. The second time I smoked a cigar was better but getting all the bits of tobacco on my tongue made me feel a bit sick. I like the smell of cigars (and pipes) but I'd never smoke one myself now.
