Is it normal to get really sad for no reason after feeling very happy?

Whenever I am happy for a couple of days, then it's like I've been hit by a hammer. I feel a hollow inside my chest and want to cry for no apparent reason. It's always very sudden and I don't remember it might happen until it does. Is it normal and something other people experience? I feel like there might be something wrong with me.

You could see if you have a mood disorder, but Im the same way. My therapist always told me that people have a tendency to think of emotions as hot and cold. However, when your body is filled with positive emotions its not difficult neurologically for your mood to switch from very happy to very sad. Our neurotransmitters see "depressed" and "euphoric" as both high emotion situations and thus chemically very similar.
In short, we see mood as a half circle with happy and sad on opposite ends but its truly full. It doesnt take as much as you think to tip over to one side or another. When you recognize that, its easier for you to control your mood.

It happens to me and I strongly believe it's not necessarily about bipolar disorder. I sometimes feel like I don't deserve happiness and I know it's silly but my mood changes anyways.

I've heard stories like this every day from different people, so, as far as I know, it's normal. Everyone and their grandmothers say they feel the same way
