Is it normal to get really frustrated when kids dont listen to you ?

I mind two kids at the moment .Both 8 and 1.I adore them to bits, they are both really clever and prestigious. However , the 8 year old can get really really cheeky and back answers me continuously.I cant discipline her in front of her parents because im afraid il come across as being mean and yet I dont want them to think I dont care about their bad behaviour .I feel like I cant meet that balance of being able to discipline while having a good relationship.Does anyone have any good tips?Im afraid they will think of me more than a friend than an auhtority figure if this continues.

I get really mad when my dog doesn't listen to me. I assume it's something similar? No? Like "don't out that in your mouth" or "don't pee on that!" Or "stop wrecking all your toys!" Or "you stink. You need a bath."

Don't yell. They think its funny.just firmly let them know what the rules are and that they will get a time out if they won't obey.Only have a couple really basic rules you will be fine.

  • If you're just a nanny I wouldn't worry too much. I know you are tasked with taking care of the kids, but kids should be disciplined by parents.
