Is it normal to get nervous breakdowns a couple of times a month?

I know, it's probably due to my hormones (as I am female AND a teenager), but they don't really seem to relate to my menstrual cycle.

So about one or more times a month, things just get to me. I get very sad and angry, and start crying uncontrollably. Sometimes I will end up hitting things. This typically only lasts a few minutes, but can sometimes last for a few hours.

It could be due to family members fighting, stress from school, an insult made to me, etc. Although sometimes I'm not sure of the cause. Once I had one during a family vacation and ruined it for everyone. I felt guilty later, but I simply couldn't control myself.

This is probably normal, but I would love to hear your stories. :)

Thanks guys.

Man I remember being 13-17 and everything was a matter of life and death. Everything seemed so big and so intense. I say give it a few years !!

I would say it is hormones because of your age. However it wouldn't be a bad idea to talk to a doctor and explain how you feel just to be sure.
