Is it normal to get nervous and cranky when kids visit their dad?

My kids (11 and 14 years old) go see their dad every summer for the whole summer. It's a 4.5 hour plane ride. is it normal to be extremely irritable and nervous for a day or two before they leave?

    Why the stress? Is it jealousy that they're spending time with their father? Nervous about the plane?
