Is it normal to get morning erections only if you sleep with someone?

My boyfriend and I have been together for three years. Every time he sleeps over, he wakes up with a morning erection. However, he told me he rarely has one when he sleeps alone. I know morning erections aren't sexual, but what could explain the consistent difference?
