Is it normal to get mad at adults for this reason?

Good music is good music no matter when it was first published. You don't have to be an adult to appreciate classic KISS or early Metallica.

Just learn from us old folks... too much head banging can cause damage to the discs in your neck.

There was a guy here last week who was aggravated when he got into new music before anyone else and then it became popular. He really wanted everyone to know he got there first and somehow owned it, I suppose.

The adults in your story are doing pretty much the same thing. Music belongs to everyone and anyone is allowed to like anything. People who don't see that aren't true to the spirit of music, art, literature, films, and I'd give them all a slap on the wrists.

Whether it's a 29 year old man who likes Justin Bieber (although I think that's unlikely) or a 29 year old man who likes the Beatles (despite them splitting up ten years before he was born), people shouldn't judge.

Don't listen to them. They just think they own something which they really, really don't.

It's normal to be irritated for sure; I mean, you'd think they'd be appreciative that you care for real music. I'm in my twenties and grew up with my parents 70's music, a lot of it rock. I'm birracial as well so I also get the "you like the Eagles? you like Led Zeppelin? What about rap? How old are you? You weren't even born when they were hot." So what? I like rap but that doesn't mean I can't like anything else. Music is music and these days it's hard to find real good, rich sound...not studio sound either; the sound of pure musician! Oh dear, I'm going to get on a soap box if I don't stop now. Anyway, don't pay any mind to those comments. Love what you love and be proud.

They are annoyed at you because they are desperate to make fun of the music you listen too, since its the same music they listen to they get mad.

I hate that too. Just because I was born after something, doesn't mean I'm not entitled to my enjoyment of it.
