Is it normal to get ingrown toenails?
I'm a ballet dancer, and I always get ingrown toe nails. :(
Terrible. Once I get em... I pick at my toe until I get it out. Is it normal to get ingrown toe nails? Life suck with little hurting feet.

I've heard cutting 'V' shapes in the center of the toenail will help to prevent them from growing inwards... as the corners have room to grow in a different direction. It makes sense but I don't know if its true :)
No...old wive's tale. Quote: "One myth is that a V should be cut in the end of the ingrown nail. The reasoning of is that if one cuts a V in the nail, the edge of the nail will grow together as the nail grows out. This does not happen - the shape of the nail is determined by the growing area at the base of the toe and not by the end of the nail. A notch does not alleviate an ingrown toenail, and may do harm if cut too deeply"

I know a possible solution eventhough im a boy and i dont do ballet
I used to cut the corners of my toenails off, and when i did this, they grew in
So dont cut of the corners like with your fingersnails
And when its grown in and it hurts you can take a footbath with chlore in it
I don't know if this is common with ballet dancers, but I can tell you how to get rid of it. Let your nail ingrow and then go to a doctor, it's a 5 min procedure where the ingrown nail is removed and it's cut in a way that it won't ingrow again.
