Is it normal to get hot / cold feelings

Well I've met a really great guy, and not sure why I'm not completely head over hills in love? Sometimes I feel like I'm in love but other times I feel so cold towards him... He doesn't seem to notice but I can't image he really doesn't notice.. is this normal especially when all I've know and loved in the past are some real losers?
