Is it normal to get frustrated at bible hypocrisy?

Why do people always talk about marriage being between a man and a woman and say that homosexuality is wrong because of what the bible says.
The bible also says in deuteronomy 22:13-21
"a marriage shall be considered valid only if the wife is a virgin. If the wife is not a virgin, she shall be executed."
Is it normal to be frustrated by the hypocrisy of people who preach the bible?

Attitudes change over time. That's the problem with trying to live your life based on what may have been true 2000 years ago. Earlier in Deuteronomy it advises against wearing clothes with both wool and cotton content, and that all clothes must be square and have a tassel at each corner. That's not pertinent today either, but is less contentious than the stoning to death thing (of both women and men) for infidelity or premarital sex.

We shouldn't pick individual parts of the Bible and choose to attack it on that basis. We should look at the Bible the way we look at any other two thousand year old book and say that it is an important work of history. It's that word "history" that is so important. Refusing to accept that and considering the Bible as relevant today as it ever was is where atheists and christians start to bicker.

I used to be tempted to tell people who attack my agnosticism that they're directly disobeying the Bible because they're not wearing their four tassels. But that's just as petty as someone saying that homosexuality or masturbation are wrong because it says so in a book. It's genuinely no different.

    Romans 1:18-32
Nature shows it plainly that homosexuality is not designed. Statistics show it plainly that homosexuality is not healthy. Homosexuals show it plainly that it is not beneficial to society.
Wisdom shows us what is plain, the real problem is people want to do what they want to do, even when it is wrong. It's been going on since the beginning of time.
The last verse here says that "they know the judgement of God." Everyone has been given a basic scale in the heart to measure right and wrong. Even if we were to "omit" homosexuality out of the equation, everyone would still be caught by their own words and found guilty of doing wrong. Doing good deeds do not erase the wrongs we have done, they only cover them up. The problem here is, heaven is heaven because everyone there is sin-free. The only hope for us all is to have our sins completely forgiven rather than covered up. And Jesus is the only One who can do this.

Well, just remember Jesus also said, "I come to bring a new covenant. Love one another as I have loved you." Therefore, the old ways of the old testament are null and void pretty much. Obviously, things like murder etc are definitely a sin.

The only people who complain about being gay, are narrow-minded bigots. And those who claim the bible is a good basis for morality, haven't actually read it. The bible has many, many horrible teachings which, if followed would land you in prison. People pick and choose things from the bible, and just ignore the rest. If the bible is the word of god, he is a evil, jealous, homicidal egomaniac who created puppets to torment. If he is all knowing and all powerful, and does nothing to protect the innocent from all the horrible people. Then he is a hypocrite. If he isn't able to help the suffering, He isn't a god, he's just watching for his entertainment. It is so ridiculous to believe in something without a single piece of evidence. Not a single thing to prove his existence, ever! We are indoctrinated into the religion of our parents while we are children. We get brainwashed from the time we are born. If you were born before Christianity, you would no doubt have a completely different religion. Religion preys on people's fear of death, it's the best scam ever! I was raised as a Mormon. I was eight years old when I started to ask questions about the world that were conflicting with their teachings. I was told to shut up by my teacher in church. It really hurt my feelings to be treated like I had done something terrible by asking reasonable questions. That was when I knew something was wrong. I asked why the bible didn't have anything about the dinosaurs. When other kids started asking questions along those lines, I was blamed for ruining class. I felt like crying, but I acted like it didn't bother me. But inside I was devastated. Why would god give me curiosity? Then punish me for using it? Just one of the thousands of things religion avoids answering. But yet, they know exactly what happens when we die! And exactly how we should live our lives. What a load of crap!
My apologies for ranting. Just blowing off steam that builds up when I see all the contradictions in religion. Drives me crazy! LoL.

Its understandable but not normal. Everyone should live their life as they see fit and not conform to any book written by a person who you dont know for reasons unknown.

  • Who cares about the bible? More fucked up things have happend BC of religion than gay marriage/non virgin wives, so fuck the bible!!!

  • Exactly what dappled said. The bible may still have the same main ideas, but the details aren't exactly same as they were back then. Besides, the Old Testament is not as reliable for information on God since it's older and people did not know as much then. The New Testament is closer to current time, but still not right on. In the New Testament there is a lot more emphasis on forgiveness and such.

People say that because they are ignorant. Jesus Christ and The New Testament brought about forgiveness and a more lenient Father. If your faith lies in Christianity, follow the commandments and spread your faith by actions and word of mouth. Being gay does not make you any less of a child of God than anyone else.

Marriage should be for everyone or no one or you could do it the
