Welcome to Anytown, Alberta (pop. a couple of thousands). The big cities have a lot of different ethnic groups, but the small towns around are predominantly white. (Some native and east indian population may present, but not everywhere). I actually love multiculturalism, as long as people don't behave like closed ethnic ghettos, so I don't really get you. But again -if racism is your thing, go for it.

As in any state, the ethnic groups here can be very, as true likes to say, ethnocentric... Many of them are very liberal or recent immigrants and they are fighting very hard, internally, to hold on to their culture as many of them see Western Culture as a corruption to their culture (yeah, I know what you are thinking, why the fuck even come here then, right?). So they stick very closely to groups among themselves and they try to cling on to their culture as much as they can, although many of them (without realizing it, sometimes) are becoming westernized.

I would say that part of it also has to do with our lack of understanding of their culture. People from the Western world (as in people from any culture) are absolutely convinced that our culture is correct and we love pushing it onto others rather than to allow them to come around themselves (or not) so many immigrants come in knowing that they will most likely be considered lesser people for having a culture that may seem strange to us.

Long story short, the ethnic cultures here seem difficult to understand and exclusive to each other and that makes it very difficult for us Westerners to understand them and make sense of them. Hopefully, one of these days, we will become more uniform in our cultural beliefs as a nation (lol loving how people think that waves of immigrants with different cultures is something NEW to America's history) so the best you can do is either accept the fact that one nation doesn't always mean one race or culture, move to a nation that is more racially exclusive or... I don't know, hate the world =/ Or move to Alabama where the races are still naturally separate and they are stuck in a perpetual 1961, but Alabama kind of sucks.

Well I am ethnic and where I live its mostly white people and many of them are racist. Everyone considers me white though.

A long time ago I served with this guy who was of Mexican ancestry from East LA. I will never forget it when he told me, "You guys stole Southern California from us, but we are going to screw you out of it." My life has taken me about everywhere a ship or a tugboat can go. People want to see their kids do better than they did (part of the reason they come the same as my ancestors did,) they hate paying taxes but do it anyway, they support their teams in their sports, they hope for good health, a good place to live, enough to eat, and the time and money to relax from time to time. Most will lie to get out of trouble, most hope that when their crappy lives are over, there will be something good waiting for them. Folks are pretty much the same everywhere. Think about this. If you ever get your DNA looked at by someone who knows what they are doing, you will discover that you have genes from your ancient African relatives which is where we all got our start. This country was built on immigration. Europeans pushed Natives off of their land and gave them shacks to live in. Anyone from Africa didn't ask to come here either; they were brought here BY Europeans, and dropped off to various ports all over the Americas. This land was BROWN. ALL of the Western continents were. If you want to be worried about anyone getting invaded, worry about Europe - that's their native lands. You can't bring a group of ppl here that didn't want to come in the first place, and then continue trying to step on their necks after they're declared free. Not only that but most white ppl here today immigrated here no earlier than 1806 up to today. Most of it happened from the mid-1800's to the early 1900's. Natives, Hispanics, Asians, Europeans, Africans, etc., have a history here. It's not all white and that's the problem. People keep trying to act like it is when it never was. As far as the shaping of Western civilization as we know it today, well most people of all cultures love that, but it isn't color coded and we would do well to get rid of discrimination. It's far outdated. What you're born looking like is just that. All of these different ways of acting is nothing more than a mindset and isn't genetic, so the race factor at its core fails in any argument.
