Is it normal to get emotional when you miss a close friend?

We've been really close friends for the last year and a half and we'd talk like every day almost non-stop. The conversations died out but nothing bad happened between us. They just didn't like using the app we'd talk on that much and I understood them entirely. But sometimes I break down and cry because I miss talking to them. They're a fun person to talk with and talking to other people just really isn't the same.

So is it normal or am I too dependent on them?

I have been lucky to always have one close friend, then we grow apart but suddenly another person randomly enters my life and we become close friends.
Never have I exchanged gifts with one though. That all changed the other night when my friend gave me a Glock replica keychain thing that was given to him by a world champion shooter. Can't remember the name but I think his name is Heinrich or his surname is Hem... something starting with Hem.. or Hertzel.. something like that. anyway, it's really cool.. and that was the moment when I fully understood how to value something sentimentally. It's like that person gives you a piece of themselves.

My point being: I think it's normal for you to want something back because it's like you are leaving a bit of yourself with somebody who, you feel, doesn't care about you anymore.

Is it morally right to ask for it back? Debatable.

It's normal to miss people who we've enjoyed talking with. It's a loss. And sometimes its really enjoyable via an app as you don't have to deal with all the other aspects of communicating face to face. It's easier. Maybe you'll find another person you like to chat to soon.

It happens.. And I really miss my friend.. We'd meet up once classes were over and we didn't even use any app but we just suddenly became very distant for no reason

Maybe you became distant because you didn't use apps

he's actually a gamer and I have an old phone but I don't think we have to be distant because I didn't use any apps I mean it's better to talk in real life since he's already there and he even asked for my cell number and he never texted me and shitand actually this year we're classmates and we pretend as if we never knew each other..I still see him after classes but we just pass by each other
