Is it normal to get depressed over someone elses issues?

For example, someone in my family is with a man who doesn't love her and it hurts to see this and depresses me and literally brings me to tears because she thinks shes in love. Is this normal to feel depressed towards someone elses issues?

You have what is called empathy, it's a beautiful thing and your probably a very caring and nice person. Don't think of this as a bad thing but try not to let other people's problems take over your life. You should channel those feelings into an artistic interest of some kind, you'd probably make a good writer or poet.

Empathy is a great thing. It's crucial in creating and forming solid long-lasting relationships. But you do need to learn to distance yourself at some point. Personally, I consider it healthy to feel with them while you're with that person or talking to them, but when they're not around those feelings can be put aside. You cannot help anyone by carrying around their pain.

That said, also share in others good feelings, and take them with you as long as you can and spread it around.

I have the same feelings for different people. I feel so sorry for people who are going through a hard time and it makes me want to cry my eyes out.

Yeah, you're just a really sympathetic person. I would see that as a huge plus towards someone's personality 'cause they don't only care about themselves.
