Is it normal to get called stupid so often?

You need to build up your selfsteem. It is true, people treat you this way, because they know they get away with it. If your family, and friends call you stupid, you need to put a stop to it "LAST YEAR" unless you tell them that you are not willing to put up with it anymore, it will not stop! STAND UP FOR YOURSELF, AND STOP THE ABUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Ignore them. Their words can't hurt you as long as you don't let them. I think they know very little about these conditions, which is leading to the insults. That, or it could be jealousy.

A lot of people put me down, too.

I have felt stupid all my life b/c I am ADD.
However, i have a
Masters degree and have found several things I do well . I still make stupid mistakes but I focus on the things I do well.

Thanks guys, but I cant get totally get new friends, their are only 6 guys, and 15 girls in my class, ( I go to a private school) and all the boys sit in same table, and eat lunch together.

Your friends as well? It's a fact that you generally can't choose your family, but your friends are meant to be the people you share mutual respect with. If they're insulting you like that then they aren't friends.

Unfortunately, it is fairly common for people close to you to say these sorts of things. It shouldn't be that way, but it sometimes is.

A lot of the time, people just don't understand things they cannot see, such as ASD or dyslexia. They might know that someone has it, but since it's not visible, unlike say, a broken leg, they'll find it hard to understand why a person can't "get over it."

Don't stand for it, like grumpybarbie said. Especially with your friends. You can ignore it too. These insults are of no help to you.

By the way, you write very well. Many people without dyslexia cannot write as well as you have done here.

I was just going to say the same thing! People treat you the way you allow them to! Don't stand for it, surround yourself with supportive people only, make some new friends! When your family insults you tell them " that's a really nice thing to say to someone you're supposed to love and support, thanks for coming out Mom" ( or whomever ) and when your friends call you stupid, you tell them " yeah, well learning is a life long process, I'll catch up, you on the other hand, will be fucking ugly forever" now remember what I said and use it!!! It sounds as if you are not respecting yourself enough. People will only behave this way if you let them.

You sure don't write like you have any of those. By observing your word ussage and grammar you seem to be quite intelligent. If I were you i'd do my best to just blow off the insults, if you can't then I'd suggest you talk to your family and friends. If they are truly your friends they will stop.

I think either there jealous of something you do or something, being called stupid by your family is not right at all. Maybe you need to let them know that??
