Is it normal to get blood on your bed when you have your period?

I get told off a lot because I roll around a lot in bed when I sleep during my period and it gets on my bed. :-/ Then I have to wash the bedsheets and stuff.
I use a blanket now but I still get bloodleaks on it... is this normal?

Put one pad on like normal, then put another one starting halfway on the first, so they overlap and the second covers your tush.
I always have leakage issues. Two pads layered like that helps A LOT. It allows youto sleep on your back.

Even though it's never going to be relevant to me, I've learned something there!

Well obviously you never heard of a pad, that or else you just bleed very heavily. If its the second one I would say buying thicker pads. Some people are extremely heavy bleeders and need to buy the thickest brand.

  • For all the people being "eww" and "gross", grow up. These things do happen even with tampons or pads and it's not anyones fault.

It's happened to me before. Also if it's the middle of the night, it's a bit damn hard to get up and change it, y'know since you're asleep and all... >.>

Take two squares of tissue, fold them in half, then in half again, then tuck it between your buttcheeks right where your pad ends. You can place some more behind that if you need more. I had that same problem, until my mom taught me this little trick. Also, nighttime pads help too.

Yes it is very normal. You are just flowing heavily when your sleeping. So you can try to put a towel down on you bed and use a tampon when you sleep...

I can say with all honesty that it's completly normal in my opinion, considering I just stained my sheets yesterday night. Damn you heavy flow!

i advise using an overnighter-pad. If yo u still 'leak', some types of underwear have a second layer of fabric (called the gusset) has an opening where you can stick a small piece of plastic (like the stuff you put under baby matresses) inside the gusset and that should prevent further 'leakages'

Get night time pads( super long, good coverage) or if ur comfortable wearing tampons use that but make sure to change it.

I love pads. I only wear tampons if I have to. They make me feel nauseous when I have one in, this has happened ever since I was 13.
Pads just feel cleaner to me- like I'm actually getting rid of the period blood instead of soaking it up with a cotton ball in my vag. It's a psychological thaaaaang.

Seriously? People still use pads? That seems so gross to me.
    Tampons are where it's at!!

    • Of course they do, you've seen them on shelves in supermarkets surely? They wouldn't be there otherwise if they didn't sell.

I prefer to not put myself at unnecessary risk of TSS, so therefore I use pads. It's not for you to judge other peoples menstrual habits or practices.

  • A large piece of plastic sheeting covered by a large towel will do.You could also wear a Depends and a Tampon if you bleed this much.

I used to, you can dampen it and the put salt on it to get it out. (a lot of salt) or you can use peroxide to get it out. It's not a big deal. Who 'tells you off?' lol
Also, I still have these things my parents kept from when I was a baby. They're cloth squares, very thick, that you put under a baby when it's asleep to keep diaper leaks from getting on sheets. Idk if they still make them, but they do make these blue and white things made of a cotton-paper with plastic inside that are pretty large. They serve the same purpose only for adults and disposable. You could pick up some of those.

Pick up a pack of Depends Adult Underwear. You'll never have an accident again. ;)

@MissSorel: lol jeez did I strike a nerve? I seem to remember a recent thread where you commented that you smell fishy during your period...maybe it's because of the pad use. At any rate, I'll take the risk of TSS over having a fishy stink anyday.
