Is it normal to get angry every time my dad speaks?

My father's a great dad, overall. But he and I are polar opposites. He's extremely conservative and old-fashioned. Also, he likes to say things to me that he can't take back, such as a few months ago when he told me I would never make many friends if I kept dressing like a 'freak'. He's done this so often over the years, just hearing him speak gets me slightly agitated. Is this normal?
