Is it normal to get an std, even if you used a condom?
Don't know whether or not I should get tested, but I bet all the results will come back negative :P

It's possible to reach into a jar of 1000 straws and pull an STD infested penis.
Such is life! I sowwy :(
Yup. herpes virus can be present on thighs as well. That's just one example. Get tested so you know and hopefully don't spread it to someone else.
happened to a friend of mine. so you should man up and just get tested...
Just to clear some misinformation up that continues to be spread by special interest groups. Latex gloves have pores big enough for HIV to pass though. Latex condoms do not. How's that for a surprise. Condoms are double dipped in latex and have much stricter testing than gloves. Condoms aren't a perfect solution and as others have pointed out, stds can still be transmitted even with condom use, but they do provide significant protection.
Nonsense!! Dr Christopher Green asked 200 sexologists how many of them would have sex with someone with HIV, using a condom - and not one hand went up. They all knew that statistically they would catch HIV within 18 months if they were married to someone with HIV and relied on condoms.
For condoms to be thick enough NOT to let the HIV virus through, they would have to be solid.
Do your research and stop spreading nonsense!
Even the UK govenment had to take their ads off TV, advocating condoms as protection from HIV.
Before telling people to do their research and 'stop spreading nonsense' maybe you should try it yourself.
Dr Green (the 'toddler taming expert' ?) doing a pop quiz of an audience isn't scientific 'research'. But it does reinforce that having sex with high risk individuals is of course risky, but is there anyone that can't figure this out for themselves? And just to point out, not a single person has argued that it isn't risky.
Angel stated condoms have pores fifty times bigger than the HIV virus. I pointed out this is completely untrue, because it is. Latex gloves have pores fifty times bigger than the HIV virus, condoms absolutely don't. Again, do your research.
Condoms break, they can be not worn correctly or consistently, they can be damaged when stored at thigh heat and in some parts of the developing world they're not manufactured to the quality they are elsewhere. But condoms when worn correctly, do provide significant protection as i stated. Not complete protection, but again noone has stated they're foolproof.
This wasn't just a random audience who refused - these are the so-called 'experts' who advise others to do it! Yes, I have read about the double dipping of condoms and the reduced risk factor of 3 - so the risk is reduced to 31%. I'm afraid that wouldn't be good enough for me!
Don't get me wrong, one of my friends is dying from AIDs and it is extremely sad. I am not judging his lifestyle by any means but I know that he wouldn't risk anyone else's life by having sex relying on a condom.
I agree that you should be tested as condoms like everything aren't 100% effective and they cannot protect you from pubic lice (crabbs) but well done for using protection. I don't want to give you any false hope but you should be ok, but get your self tested to be 100% certain. Good luck x
in high school my biology teacher drew a circle as big as his hand on the chalk board and then he drew a tiny dot inside of it. He explained to the class that the circle represented the microscopic holes in condoms and the dot represents hiv aids.
This is why I'm gonna wait for marriage. So at least I won't be doing a bunch of girls. Straight edge!
YES - you CAN still get an STD even if you use a condom.
1) Latex has pores. Those pores are FIFTY TIMES BIGGER than the HIV virus. SURPRISE!
(aka that means you can still get HIV even if you use a condom)
2) Condoms only cover the male organ (or female, if they're still trying to market those balloons they called female condoms).
STDs are not limited to just those areas. They can also be located AROUND your genitals too.
And not everyone puts a condom on right away. Foreplay after all... touching licking... all of those acts can also help STDs spread.
I know it's not the "cool" thing but if you're unsure of your partner do you really want to take him into your bed? I mean seriously, you're trusting your sexual health to someone ... and do you really know him?
Better yet... can you tell if he's lying? Do you even think you can spot an STD on someone just by looking at him?
I agree with Angel--good advice....also consider the risks with oral and anal sex during which most people don't use condoms/barriers...if you are planning on engaging in sex then both of you should get tested...same as before getting married both of you should get tested...marriage doesn't guarantee monogamy either so if you suspect infidelity get tested!
