Is it normal to get a second molar extracted at 24 years old?
I want to have an upper second molar (right side) extracted because it is causing me a lot of pain (no infection, just extremely sensitive, I had a filling done and it made the pain worse) and I cannot afford to have a root canal, which is about $750-$1500. I can get it extracted for free. I am just worried that it might not be normal for someone of my age (24) to get a pretty important (...or so I'm told) tooth removed. The sensitivity is really bad and I don't think I can bear to keep it until I can afford to have the root canal (which wouldn't be for months). I'm also worried that I'll have chewing problems and that my teeth will end up having spaces between them from the teeth shifting after the extraction. Has anyone had this done before (not from getting braces)? I don't know what to do. I don't know whether to suck it up and bear it until I have the cash or just get it pulled. So please tell me... is it normal, and what should I do?
