Is it normal to gag when i clean my ears out with a q-tip?

Everytime i clean my ears out it makes me cough and/or gag is this normal?

    Maybe youre sticking the cotton swab in too deep.

    I cough too when I clean my ears actually :O I never really paid attention to that, but now that you bring it up... That's kind of weird haha. Do you sneeze too when your eyes don'T have time to adjust to bright lights, for example when you go out and it's really sunny?

    Ears, nose, and throat are all connected, so if you're sticking that q-tip in too deep, it could affect all of those.

    How far into your ears are you sticking them?! You shouldn't get deep into your ears to trigger that reaction. Cleaning your inner ear with a qtip can actually lead to a plug in the drainage tube that connects to your sinuses.

    Use OTC debrox, it works wonderfully, tickles nicely, and doesn't need to be done near as often.
