Is it normal to flush old food down the toilet
I know a friend who dumps old and moldy food like spaghetti sauce down the toilet. Does anyone else do this or heard of this?

I always flush old food/leftovers down the toilet. Never had problem with blockages or drains. Stops bins smelling and attracting unwanted 'visitors' (vermin).
If it goes to landfill, rainwater and groundwater run off takes it into water courses anyway.
I have flushed other things sometimes, but I'm careful not to flush anything not degradeable or as big as the hole at the bottom of the toilet.
My BF has never had to unblock the loo and accepts this as 'normal'
flushing unwanted food or to keep from eating left over food. some even flush there daily garbage down the toilet.
Tell your friend about two miraculous items: the garbage disposal and the trashcan!
A loo isn't meant for food. The only "food" it's meant for is excrement. Toilets don't have razorblades that chop things up. They only swallow. I surprised that her loo hasn't backed up and exploded. But it probably will if she keeps this pace up! Tell her and if she doesn't listen, let her toilet overflow and have her to pay for all the damages.
It is better to toss it and empty the trash to not waste water. I guess this could happen if garbage day is several days away and people do not want to stink up their house or outside garbage bin.
well i toilet can handle poop and toilet paper so i guess food would be ok too. I can understand doing that too if you live in an apartment building, i got a compost pile so iv never thought to do that.
i always do this lol... of course just mushy stuff tho. and i've put cereal i didnt finish down since i was a little kid. i just really hate smelly trash, and i hate for my trash to leak and have old mushy moldy food leaking out. yea.
We dont have a garbage disposal, so if its something liquidy, we do the same thing.
I think that's a good idea; especially when you're trying to watch for smelly trash...
I do that sometimes, I don't think it has never caused a problem with the plumbing! What's the difference between flushing food and all the other stuff we put into the toilet?
