Is it normal to find the concept of vampires disgusting?

I have noticed that rather recently, Vampires have made their way back into the pop culture limelight (need I explain how?).

For as long as I can remember, I have found the concept of Vampires and Vampirism quite disgusting. Vampires drink the bodily fluids of human beings, which I find incredibly disgusting and hazardous to one's health (great way to get AIDS).
In fact, that's about it. I don't understand why Vampirism is such a great and novel thing. Drinking blood sounds very gross, as it contains damn near every disease one has ever had.

Sweeties it just means that you were not born with the genetic markers for vampirism. You are born "of the blood" or you are not. I am not speaking of fetishists or Twilight fans. I am speaking of individuals who are born with a hereditary draconic nature, a need for energy acquired through psychic abilities or aura connections, sanguine (blood), or tantric (sexual fluid or energy acquired during sex).

  • Sounds more like Germaphobia to me than anything related to the fictional "vampire".

I don't understand how finding disgust in drinking someone's bodily fluids and running the risk of contracting some nasty STD is germaphobic but alright.

Blood (from a healthy host) is quite nutritious.

Vampires are gay. simple as that. The only reason they even made a comeback is cuz of little tweens all going bonkers over twilight, but they only like it cuz of the romance. Who wouldn't want some hot (not the actor... ew.), depressed, unattainable guy that has issues to fall in love with you and sweep you off your boring feet and be with only you forever and your the only one that can make him happy? (who knows how your gloomy depressing ass did THAT) Apparently people that hate their lives so much that they get obsessed with the idea of 'twilight', thats who. Now shows like 'Vampire diaries' are reaching fame by jumping on this bandwagon. Eh, they are not hurting me so i could care less. Now stop wasting all your strength on this and start preparing for when the zombies come. XD

Avoiding the risk is normal but being actively revolted by blood seems germaphobic.

      You might be right.
But I still do not see how anyone can not find drinking another's bodily fluids normal or acceptable in any way shape or form.

I have wondered if they were somehow impervious to STDs. Pop culture has already ruined their original concept, by making able to be in sunlight and "sparkling". So, whose to say that no ones has really tried to think about this hard enough?

There is the possibility that they can't get them. They can live forever, but who would want to have a STD forever? Who wants to live forever, but also to be dying at the same time? They are apparently already "undead", so they are neither dead nor alive....
