Is it normal to find it really hard to take criticism?

Even if I know it's meant to be helpful or constructive I find it really hard to take criticism well. When people criticize me I tend to take it very personally and feel depressed. I really hate this trait in myself, it makes me take myself far to seriously and it must seem like I think I'm perfect.

May the criticism begin!

Criticism is a good thing. It helps you grow as a person. Whether it is good or bad criticism.

Criticism is hard to take but sometimes the person who is criticising is right and just pointing out your wrong behaviour eventhough most of us don't like hearing it.

  • I know how you feel. Taking criticism is hard because an exterior person is letting you know what your flaws are and that you aren't perfect. However, I often encourage my friends to give me constructive criticism (on homework, decisions, clothes, etc) because in the long run, it will help me to become a better person by recognizing what about me needs improvement. However, when I am criticized in a situation where it is uncalled for or unnecessary, then I get upset. I may or may not say anything about it depending on how harsh/intentional the criticism was.

  • Calling him/her a crybaby is a bit harsh, but the truth is that is the way criticism is supposed to feel, because it teaches your mind to fall within those peramiters next time.

It's normal. But you're being a crybaby. Don't fuss over the little things.
