Is it normal to find "fabulous" people annoying?

By fabulous, I mean gay people who are super eccentric. The type who are all into fashion, hair, and design and who will tell any woman she looks "fabulous". They call people by names like "sweetie", "hun", and "crazy biyotch" or some stupid crap. They're sassy, flirty, and loud. Guys who wear crazy outfits and spend more time on their appearance than a beauty queen. The overly "green", politically "correct"... They just get on my nerves.

I'm bi, I have gay friends and gay members of my family. I don't mind them. It's just the ones on TV (like Carson from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Jack McFarlin from Will and Grace) and the ones who try to copy those types. I see so much of this "fabulousness" on TV that it drives me crazy. Being gay doesn't mean loading up on the pink and being loud while waving your martini's.

There are gay members of the community desperately trying to break this stereotypical behavior and they do nothing but promote it.

Am I the only one that is tired of this? I know me and my gay friends are.

**also, as a side note: I hate women who do this too**

I actually completely agree. I have no problem accepting a person's sexual orientation but I hate when they rub it in my face. It's almost as if they act like you're going to forget that they're gay. Anyway, I think you're normal.

They are obviously putting on a show and yes it is truly annoying. There's nothing wrong with being homosexual, but being ridiculous about it is pathetic

Ahhh, the flame-boyant ones. It can be annoying but some of them I find quite entertaining. I mean, come on, you have to have some sort of respect, at least give some props, for the fact that they just don't care what anyone thinks about them. And honestly it looks like they are having a hell of a good time in life. Can't hate that, sorry :)

  • It's the way they are, no different to a straight guy that is always flirting with females and showing their "machoness". Nobody is stupid enough to believe all homosexuals are like that. What is wrong with them doing that? There are two types of gays, the ones that like the things women like, or the ones that are still man like but just preffer the same sex, and there is nothing wrong with either or them.

There are people that hate every type of person on TV, if we decided to get rid of them, there would probably be no media.

Just because you don't like to act that way, that doesn't mean other homosexuals don't. Who are you to say "That way of being gay is wrong, so you should stop it", it would be partially the same as a straight man going "That way of being a man is wrong, so stop being gay".

Nobody is forcing you or telling you to be something, so you shouldn't do the same.

Well pedophiles are just being them when they touch little kids. Is that okay? A bit extreme of an example, there. But would it be okay if people walked around naked everywhere because they're naturally a nudist and being themselves? Why not? They're technically not hurting anyone, right? People could just look away, right? There's appropriate behavior and then being yourself. For example, the real you might want to tell your boss to eat a dick. The smart you just (or should (or should get it on camera)) nods until they go away.

It's the same with those who are naturally violent and want confrontation all the time. Their "being themselves" isn't an appropriate way to act.

      • You probably think that's a good example, but it simply isn't. It isn't because of the simple fact that this is discussing someone that isn't putting anybody through harm, and that their choices are ones that bring unrightful negative effect, where as being a pedophile includes the victim and the victimizer, where as the "fabulous" homoesxuals don't have those two roles in their life choice.
Once again, there is a difference between the two examples you are saying. You are saying that acting a certain way that doesn't involve a victim or a victimizer is the same as a situation that involved the victim and the victimizer. As for the nudist thing, they are definetly the minority of people, and they have respect for others and do their nudist acts in areas where they are allowed or areas of their own privacy where nobody can see them. There is a difference between life styles that make you act a certain way that doesn't expose nudity, and a life style that involves exposing yourself in areas not allowed.

Your example of the boss is just terrible aswell. You are comparing an asshole boss to a man that acts a certain way and could be a nice person, there is no accurate comparison.

No, it isn't the same, and if you think so then I have no idea what logic you follow by. Like I said, there is a difference between being yourself that involves the victim and the victimizer, and being yourself that doesn't involve those things.

I can't help but notice your "right, right?" after a few sentences as if you think you're cornering me. You haven't been here long, so I think I should tell you that when it comes to debates, you simply won't win against me, I have a reputation for being a good debater on this site, as vain as that may make me seem. Just thought you should know, because I think I know what direction this is going to go.

Why do you care about them so much? Think about yourself.

Well actually I too tend to dislike when men act like catty school girls. I also hate catty schoolgirls as well. I understand you think gays should just blend in but people have to make a huge deal about everything.

I don't entirely hate flamboyant itself though. Sometimes flamboyant is )entertaining. Characters like Ayame(fruit basket), Riddler(batman), Castor(from tron). Though none of these characters do this for sexuality they are just very eccentric.

Yeah I agree with you but its not as if you are trying to make a political statement ti band gay men from acting effeminate in order to stop a negative image about us within the media. Its something you just dont like because a lot of gay guys cant stand effeminate gay men anyway, No fat, fems, or olds are 3 favorite fucking words of a fag. It suprises me how there is so much hatred and little mindedness within a community that is already hated so much. Life is funny. And oh yeah, you cant say much anyway because I hear that you bisexuals are looked down upon in the gay community.

I can see what you mean, and I tend to feel the same sometimes. I'd guess you're not entirely comfortable around anyone who makes a big scene, male or female, gay, straight or unicorn.
