Is it normal to find exercise very painful?

So, by painful, I don't just mean that I feel the burn. I know what the pain from a workout feels like, that's not what I'm talking about. I mean excruciating pain, the kind that brings a person to tears. Sometimes it causes my back to spasm and that lasts hours. I'm 18. Is this at all normal?

Yeah the best advice I can give is to embrace the pain it's hard at first but keep it up and you'll need it and feel better (source) own personal experiance.

At the age of 18? Not normal. You might be overdoing it, but at the same time, working out hurts. Push through it.

You sound like you have a bad back problem. Get it checked out and work on fixing it.

If it's low back pain it's probably sciatica or disk protrusion on a nerve. Go to a good chiropractor

you might be over-exerting yourself. start very very gradually, even if people laugh at you. Then slowly increase the weights and intensity.

that's what I did. I started bench pressing 30lbs, then worked up to over 220 lbs in a few months. I was extremely built by that point.

I've neglected my body-because of my career, but I plan to get back into fighting form when I can make the time.

anyways for you-some soreness is normal, but give your body time to rest and rebuild.

if you're in extreme pain, then you're doing it wrong. See a doctor and workout at a moderate pace, don't be stupid.

  • Normal for someone who is excruciatingly overweight. As you clearly are.

    • define "excruciatingly". I'm definitely overweight, but (as far as BMI goes) I'm not obese.

      • Excruciatingly would be equal to obese. At least you are trying to work out.
