Is it normal to feel weird when people say happy mothers day to me?

During mothers day at work when I was 16 (and so forth) customers would tell me "Happy mothers day!" and might add "if you're a mother." IDK why but I just found it weird for them to assume someone so young would even have a kid. I know they're just being nice but I wouldn't tell someone who looks like a teenager slash is a teenager happy mothers day at all unless I knew they had a kid. Do people go around telling teenage guys happy fathers day too?

That sounds like an excellent solution.

Do you live in Mississippi? Because most 16-year-olds there are already mothers.

      That's NOT FAIR.
Most 16 year olds in Alabama are mothers too!

    Nice pondering smiley :)

Personally, I wouldn't say happy mothers day to someone unless I knew for certain that they were a mother. Regardless though, I'm sure they were just trying to be nice and cheerful.

My initial guess would be no, they probably don't go around telling most teenage guys happy fathers day. As for why, I'm not completely sure. That's just the way it is I suppose.

I wouldn't either. Someone I worked with said happy mothers day to our managers wife unaware of the fact that she could not get pregnant and had been trying to adopt for 5 years.

That is actually pretty strange indeed.. I never wish anyone beside my own mum happy mothers day.

I wish every woman I meet a Happy Mother's Day, even the ones I know have had a miscarriage or abortion.

I draw the line at the one's with SIDS though.
