Is it normal to feel wary around foreigners?

I live in Cardiff, and am a white man. There are a lot of students in this city, students from all over the world, especially the far east. When I casually walk about the town, be it daytime, nighttime or whenever, there are usually a fair few foreigners wandering around in groups, and if I'm by myself I can feel scared. I've never been in a situation where I've been attacked or anything, and I don't hate them, I just don't want to be near so many of them. It probably makes me sound really racist, but like I say, when you watch the police shows and the news and read the papers, quite a fair bit of the time it is gentlemen of the coloured persuasion that are being locked up for all sorts of crime. So, is it normal to feel threatened when approaching a large groups of people from another race?

    What you really need to worry about is poverty, thats what brings out the worst in people, regardless of their race. Right in there with poverty, are religous extremists, or anyone who has suffered at the hands of another for no real good reason, -like people who have been attacked and lost loved ones because of someone's BS political agenda. Unfortunately, most of those people are not White, but anyone would feel the way you do.

    I'd say that's normal, but hey, they are only other humans right? As long as they aren't scarred, lost limbs, and are carrying a chainsaw and other weapons, you shouldn't be scared of them :)

    Its completely okay to be like that. you are scared because they are so different. i am that way too, with people of other races

    Well, a lot of people are afraid of foreigners, simply because they're afraid of the unknown. But I'm guessing you're more scared of coloured people than just any foreigners. Can't argue with you on the crime thing, it's a fact. Mainly it's because they come from a country with no or poor law enforcement, and don't know better. That's no excuse, though.
