Is it normal to feel unsatisfied with my life?

I feel really unsatisfied with my life... I have a pretty good life but I feel super unsatisfied like there's something better out there and I can never just be a peace with my self. I want to know if this is typical for someone who's still in high school and ready to go to college like just teenage angst or if its more serious than that

    Thats human nature.
To never be fully satisfied with what you have, always reaching beyond.
We are mentally more adaptable than we'd wish. It's a proven thing that if something serious happens to you, e.g. you landing in a wheelchair or losing an arm, you "adapt" to that situation within about a year, and then can have the same amount of "life happyness" as before the event, even if that seems unlikely.
The same is also true the other way round. If you win the lottery and suddenly have several millions on your account, you will "adapt" to that within some times and be no more happy than you were before.

So either look into buddhism, trying to give up desire which ultimately leads to pain, or cope with it.

Never being fully satisfied is not keeping you back, it's urging you onwards, and important(or selfdestructive) for humanity as a whole.

I think your right about more experiences, I have since posting turned 18 and gotten a driver license and "real" job, which has allowed to have way more experiences. I think I really needed more Independence, I'm happier and feel more confident :)

Most psychologists say that happiness (close to satisfaction) comes from having experiences. Go to a new place, experience new things.

I realize you said you were 18 but you can still do some things. Nothing dangerous or illegal would probably be advisable, obviously.

Other than that, you can just make note of each positive thing in your life when you're feeling down and look at the negative things as well. If there is more good than bad, everything's probably okay and you're just worrying. If there is more bad than good, think of a way to get rid of some of the bad. The human mind rewards us with good feelings when we work towards accomplishing things.

If you see you are making some progress, you will feel better.

This turned into a rant but in conclusion, this feeling is normal.

I think it's pretty common. I know growing up all the adults moaned about their life and what they were gonna do - one day - or when they retire.
That's why I did it all while I'm young.
My teens were everywhere, pretty normal. Lots of ups , lots of downs , more downs but that's life. While your in college I spose you'll be thinking about what you wanna do with the rest of your life then and hey maybe even have the time of your life at college partying while your at it, never know.

I also heard you want something more. Be true to your nature and value only self-control, discipline and independent behaviour. Eat vegetables instead of delicious food, eat apples, honey, figs, bananas, and drink only pure spring water. Try not taking drugs, and walk in nature barefooted and stop worrying about pain, whip yourself on the back, I'm a genius, I solved the problem of someone who hates a good life.

I understand how you feel, pleasure is not making you happy, for instance "good life is unsatisfactory", try buying crap (poor quality), dress in horrible-looking clothes, give away all jewels, gold, money, luxuries and the TV, make your room awkward. Just a suggestion, you will be happy for sure.

Try rejecting all pleasure, you might have pleasure by all that stuff no one finds pleasurable (I prefer pleasure).

Its a phenomenon that affects most people I think. I was doing some research on Mindfulness - being in the moment, rather than trying to think of the future, or other things that have nothing to do with the NOW - its talked about a lot in yoga.... which I would encourage you to try if you are having problems with this. It helped me alot.

Yep thats just life. I'm pretty satisfied to the point where I shouldn't have anything to complain about.

But truely that unsatisfied part of you is what gets you to experience new things and is what makes life much better in my thoughts. It makes you more curious and want to learn new things. :D
