Is it normal to feel unfomfortable around parents?

My parents were very emotionally disconnected with me when I was young, although my mom likes to pry into the juicy parts of my life (relationships, etc). So when she asks me stuff about relationships, I feel a severe anger inside of me and just shut down. I hate talking to her! I feel like she's just asking for her own enjoyment, or maybe judging me. IIN?

I know that this is hard to believe but a lot of parents don't like children at different ages - just coz they don't understand them or can't relate to them.

My 2 sisters love babies but lose interest once they can walk and talk :o( so they both had 4 each to keep kids at the age they loved. So... maybe your mom is one of those who loves the teenage years. She maybe feels she can relate to you now - not realising that you felt you were being neglected in the past.

You don't need to tell her anything personal but maybe you discuss this with her, you might manage to forgive her and she will see the mistakes she made and be sorry.

    Hope this helps.

I have the exact same situation; they basically ignore you most times, unless they want to know something for their own benefit/satisfaction, are bored, or when they randomly feel like stepping to act as a parent.
I do believe joybird's comment was very insightful, however I fear that my parents are too ignorant and bull-headed to ever admit to their fault.
