Is it normal to feel this way about my family

I am 17 years old and I have no privacy whatsoever in my own house. My parents don't allow me to sleep alone rather they want me to sleep with them in their room even though i have my own room and in the remote possibility that they allow me to sleep on my own they do not let me close the door and even take away my mobile. i can't talk to any of my friends when am in my house as my parents always tend to poke around it. i even save the contacts of my male friends with some female name . my parents have closed my facebook account twice and the only time i get to use my laptop is when they are around and keep a watch at me.

Seriously it is getting to my nerves now the way they behave. i think the only privacy i get is when i am in the bathroom. living here is just irritating and annoying. i too just want to move to a boarding school just like my brother.

is it ok to feel this way?? also can you give me a few tips on how to deal with this.
Sorry for the super long post and thank you for reading it.

It's not normal they behave like this. My family is nosy but not that nosy. When I first got my phone, they constantly asked who I was texting/talking to, what we were talking about, if I got a text they would look on my phone and demand that I either read it out or tell them, etc. They wouldn't even allow me to social network. Thankfully, what i do on the Internet is MY business. You thankfully only have one or less then one year left with them. Then you can go to college. For now, could you live with another relative or put passwords on your devices. Some people even get restraining orders for invasion of privacy. You might be able to get one now or you'll have to do it in college. Either way, their control on you isn't right or normal at all. Fight for your rights!

in the society I live in, getting a restraining order is like inviting myself to get kicked out of the society. :(

Can't you move or stay with someone without their knowledge? Disappear?

Now listen. They seem to be overprotective in a really strong way. Have they lost any children? Do they have a bab childhood? Maybe they just want to keep you safe. In any case just sit them down and DEMAND they listen. Goodluck

In the United States its illegal for your parents to make you sleep with them at 17! Maybe you should call DCF if you want help.. I don't see how old this post is... But ur parents seem very weird to me...

there are still many things I have not mentioned in my post like they rarely allow me to visit my friends home. hell they don't even allow me to go out if it is past 5 in the evening. they have chased away my boyfriend twice and now he even refuse to talk with me because they have threatened him of getting arrested. it is like a nightmare everyday.

What sort of society do you live in?
        Is this culturally acceptable?

Yes it's normal to feel like that. Have you told them how you feel about this? Why do they feel they can't give you privacy?
