Is it normal to feel the need to brush your hair before eating?

I have long hair that tangles easily and it's usually a bit of a mess. I don't really notice or mind most of the time, except when I'm presented with food. Then I'll suddenly be able to physically feel how tangled and matted it is, and unless I brush it before I eat I feel disgusting and just overly aware of the sensation of the hairs knotting together. If it's a bit greasy I'll become acutely aware of that too.

The bigger and more unhealthy the meal is, the more I'll feel the need to brush my hair first. And it's mainly a problem in my own home, not so much when I'm out or at someone else's house.

Anyone else experienced anything like this, or is it just me?

When I was a child and about to watch a movie on the couch, I would become acutely aware of every object on the floor. Especially white or brightly colored things. It's OCD, I think.

I suggest you brush your hair directly over the plate of food. Give it a dandruff salad.
