I am disappointed that in many facets of life standards have declined alarmingly: politeness; ability to write, spell, and use proper grammar; popular music; transport; television; entertainment... Or is it just me?
I feel the opposite. Just think about how vastly different things were just 50 years ago.
The past is always better through rose tinted spectacles.
Even the ancient Egyptians moaned about things not being as good as in the good old days.
Oh I agree 100%. I went back to school after 25 yrs. and couldn't believe how much a college education has devalued. Most of the students had poor grammar, couldn't do math in their head, and had no critical thinking skills. And don't get me started on manners; they're nonexistent. I ride the bus and the senior seats are full of high school kids texting on their phones without caring if an elderly person has to stand.
Yup! People use to respect themselves and now they don't. People use to respect each other and now they don't.
Not being able to read was not a normal thing for most adults in the past but its now considered NORMAL thing for most. Television shows use to be deep and creative. Now its just revamped, remade and random nonsensical mash ups. Use to have ideas like Catdog. A dog attacked to a cat and how society saw them. Brilliant! What a creative ironic idea. That or random crap tossed together. Hey how about a cut out cat, a SG monkey and a talking banana. We will call it coconut heads. Yeah it didn't make sense to us either but lets just give it a try see how it goes!
Superheros use to be common, they sent a good message and the storylines were very deep. Now most of these shows get cancelled. However some of these shows will come back like teen titans are made into crap like Teen titan go. Or 3D/CG animated versions of the original series that were cancelled in the 90s.
People use to have a sense of work ethics and now demand pay for being lazy and sitting on their sorry behinds. Society is shit now but hey its 2010! Look at the shitty new generation we have to look forward to!
