Is it normal to feel so lonely?

I feel upset a lot of the time, I'm a 17 year old girl and I tend to get severe bouts of loneliness where I simply want to stay in bed and sleep the days through. I form worringly strong attachments to older men including father-figures and often use my sexuality as a way of feeling wanted by these people I strive for attention from. It's not so much that I am promiscuous as my advances are never reciprocated, I am more concerned about intense feelings of loneliness and sadness which have me crying at night. Is this regular for a teenager?

Talk to your closest friend about it, (just one you can trust), if you dont have one, make one. Smile more often, dont let loneliness get the better of you and stop you smiling, if it does it makes you unapproachable, even if its a fake smile, a fake smile is better than no smile. Dunno why you would cry, theres not exactly something "wrong" with being lonely, ive been semi-lonely all my life, i think it makes you an emotionally stronger person, but thats in my opinion. If you are really, really, really lonely, talk to yourself, and get to know yourself better, if your lonely you must have some sort of demon, whether its not being able to socialise or anything like that, get to know yourself and conquer your demon, the more you know yourself the more confident you will feel in what you can do, and how you can socialise with people, watch comedies, even fake laughing can help cheer yourself up! Just the idea of laughing can boost spirits apparently.

Occasional loneliness is normal, especially for a teen, but for days at a time isn't. However, sleeping for days at a time, and constant crying sounds more like depression. I think you should tell your doctor.
