Is it normal to feel so detached?

All the time while driving, spending time with my family, eating, walking, ect. I feel so detached from everything. I feel as if I'm asleep or something. The only things that 'wake' me up are dangerous things like heights and riding on motorcycles..what's wrong? IIN?

You need danger in your life. That or smelling salts.

Alcohol is not the answer!! How long have you felt like it or has something triggered it?

I think you're depressed. I'm struggling with depression and that's exactly how I feel. But, please, if you do drink to feel better, don't do too much. My uncle died from depression because he drank so much alcohol that he died. Talk to a doctor about medication, that helped me.
    Good luck!

Yes I believe so. Whenever you keep repeating a regular activity, you seem to go on autopilot. But with the latter, sounds like you are an adrenaline junkie if need be for danger or excitement to wake you up.

Sounds like depresion of some kind id recomend talking to someone about this. You might just be so distant as you are afraid to confront what is happening in your life and how it is scoping out for you.

I have been like this for some years! And I don't want to start drinking as I have 3 kids to look after on my own. But when I do drink I feel the same..... :0(

If anyone knows a "cure" for this or to get back to normal, let me know....

Well, it's temporary, but I find alcohol helps. It's the only time I feel at all connected with the rest of humanity.

Same here. I'm far from psychologically and emotionally normal though.

I put no, but I have this too. Like I can't really experience emotions properly, and feel I am living in a bubble, that I can see and hear things through, but not feel emotions as they should be felt...
